Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026. This page explains, in plain language, what information ALSChat and this website collect and how it's used.

The letter board itself (index.html)

The ALSChat letter board is a client-side web app. It does not have a server-side account system, and it does not send what you type to us or to any third party. Everything the app remembers is stored only in your browser's local storage, on your own device:

• Your selected language, so the board opens in the same language next time.
• Your selection mode (tap/click or auto-scan) and, if you use auto-scan, your chosen scan speed.
• A history of phrases you've had the app speak aloud, so you can quickly reuse them. You can clear this at any time from the History panel, or clear it by clearing your browser's site data.

Because this data lives in local storage, it stays on the specific device and browser you used — it is not synced to an account and we cannot see it. Uninstalling the app, clearing your browser data, or using a different browser or device will not carry it over.

The letter board uses your browser's built-in text-to-speech engine to read text aloud. This happens entirely on your device through your operating system or browser; audio is not sent anywhere for processing.

The contact form (partnership.html)

If you submit the Contact Us form, the name, organization, email address, and message you enter are sent to Formspree, a third-party form-processing service, which forwards it to us by email so we can reply. We only use this information to respond to your inquiry. See Formspree's privacy policy for how they handle submitted data.

Cookies and advertising

This website may show advertising served by Google AdSense. If ads are active on a page, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technology to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can learn more about how Google uses this information and manage your ad personalization settings at Google's Ads and Data page, and opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings.

The letter board application itself does not use advertising or ad-tracking cookies.

Children's privacy

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If how we handle data changes — for example, if we add analytics or additional third-party services — we will update this page and change the "last updated" date above.
